Le Rayon Vert proposes the transformation of three residential towers in the Python-Duvernois district through a strategy of careful addition rather than replacement. Working from the spatial, material and social qualities already present in the existing buildings, the project seeks to maximise habitability while minimising demolition and resource consumption.
The intervention reactivates the ground floors as a shared urban base, introduces new collective spaces throughout the buildings, and extends the apartments through a bioclimatic façade of winter gardens. Existing circulation spaces are transformed into generous, light-filled communal landings, while the rooftops become accessible terraces equipped with solar canopies.
Delivering 236 homes, the project demonstrates how architectural transformation can simultaneously improve environmental performance, social inclusion and everyday quality of life. More than a rehabilitation, it is an evolving framework for living that builds on what is already there and opens new possibilities for the future.
