Isla Bonita is a new educational and sports facility that strengthens the presence of the historic Seefeld school while responding to contemporary educational and community needs. The project is conceived as a carefully balanced ensemble of three interlocking volumes, positioned among existing trees and aligned with the surrounding urban fabric.
The building establishes a close relationship between architecture, landscape and public life. New pedestrian connections transform the site into an open and permeable park, creating spaces for learning, play, sport and everyday encounters. The historic school remains at the centre of the composition, while the new intervention frames a series of green outdoor rooms that extend educational activities into the landscape.
The programme combines sports, childcare, cultural and community facilities, including two stacked gymnasiums, a rooftop sports field, a cafeteria, music rooms and multipurpose spaces. Conceived as a hybrid timber-and-concrete structure, the project follows a low-tech environmental approach, combining resource efficiency, natural ventilation and long-term adaptability.
